Surfrider is fortunate to have the support of some amazing people and companies who are passionate about our mission and want to make a difference. For local collaboration opportunities please contact our partnerships manager.
Inspired by The Surfrider Foundation’s work to stem the flow of plastic pollution, The Standard, Hollywood, and The Standard, Downtown LA have taken the extraordinary step of converting the water they offer guests from plastic to glass bottled. In addition, they’ve switched out their plastic straws for paper alternatives in their bars and lounges. In doing so, The Standard has effectively eliminated tens of thousands of plastic bottles and hundreds of thousands of plastic straws from the consumer stream annually. A portion of all in-suite water sales is donated to The Surfrider Foundation West LA / Malibu Chapter.
It’s been a thrill to work with Madewell as they claim their stake in protecting what they love with Surfrider Foundation in a way that engages their company, customers and fans to support and learn more about our ocean, waves and beaches. Our partnership launched in spring 2017 and to celebrate, Madewell associates teamed up with local Surfrider Chapters for an afternoon of hands-on engagement on their local beaches spending a day stewarding Venice Beach in Southern California.
Just in time for summer, our #LongLiveTheBeach capsule collection launched in June 2017 featuring two shirts made with organic cotton, a large straw tote and two pairs of sunglasses. Each item provides a way for Madewell customers to rep their love for our coasts and feel good about it too as each was specially made to support the Surfrider Foundation.

The Firewire/Surfrider Foundation collaboration, featuring Firewire’s popular ADDVance model is arguably the most eco-friendly surfboard build available at global retail today. Firewire’s Timbertek construction was an obvious choice for the partnership, and while they’ve got a long way to go to achieve ‘cradle to cradle’ manufacturing, they are committed to sustained progress toward that ultimate goal, striving to operate in the most eco-friendly manner that is also economically viable for Firewire and the surfers who ride their boards. Firewire will donate $75.00 per unit sold in the US towards the Surfrider Foundation’s ongoing efforts to protect our coastline and oceans.
