2017 Film Festival Ocean Action and Activism

Festival Screening, Thursday June 22, 2017
Film submissions are due by Thursday, May 25. Films must be submitted by emailing a high-quality downloadable link to Patagonia Santa Monica no later than May 25. It is free to submit a film. Patagonia Santa Monica staff will curate the selections. Filmmakers will be notified by June 8 as to whether their film will be screened at the film festival.

Filmmakers can submit videos that are up to 5 minutes long. The video must have something to do with ocean environmentalism (pollution cleanup, protecting wildlife, etc.), or action (surfing, body surfing, etc.).

The crowd at the film festival will vote for their picks for Best Cinematography, Best Environmental Story and Best Action. Voting takes place via ballot immediately after the last film is shown. Winners are selected as soon as votes are tallied. Each winner will be awarded a $1,000 shopping spree at Patagonia Santa Monica.

Attending the film festival is free. Filmmakers are encouraged to post teasers to their films on Instagram and tag @patagoniasm. For official rules and submission agreement, please email Patagonia Santa Monica.
